What is a Prosthodontist?

Prosthodontists are experts in the restoration and replacement of teeth. Their specialty, one of only nine recognized by the American Dental Association, requires not only four years of dental school but also three years of advanced training and education in state-of-the-art techniques and procedures for treating a wide variety of conditions. Prosthodontic treatments include, but are not limited to, crowns, bridges, dentures, and implants. For conditions that require complex treatment involving more than one specialist, a prosthodontist serves first as the architect of the treatment plan, then as a coordinator who directs treatment the way a conductor directs a symphony.
